Adding History to Offices
Oakland, CA
-
Year Built: 2021
The owners wanted to redesign their law office to recreate a “Chicago Loft” style consistent with the building’s 1922 construction. The layout stayed the same, with new elements layered in.
We removed maple wood details and replaced them with period-correct Douglas Fir, and refinished the Fir flooring that reveals some of its history.
Previous built-in cabinetry and desks made way for custom cabinets with a traditional feel at many of the common areas including the Conference Room.
We installed tin ceilings that add traditional character while bouncing natural light from the large windows further into the offices. They also improve acoustics and hide new insulation.
We replaced Office and Conference Room carpet with high-quality wool carpet.
The Bathrooms, not shown, got glow-ups with traditional mosaic tile flooring.
We added or replaced lighting throughout the office for better function, energy efficiency and aesthetics.
