Overview

Levitch creates a spacious sense of openness in a Bay area Kitchen that had doors on three sides and connects it to an existing deck.

“I would highly recommend Levitch & Co. for their excellent work from design through each stage to final touches on our kitchen/dining room remodel. They were punctual, professional and pleasant every day. They were true craftsmen (and women) who took pride in their work, and it shows in the final product. I especially appreciated Maurice’s vision in accomplishing our design objectives; the remodel is even better than I had thought it would be!”

Project Details

The owners came to us for help with their Kitchen. The space was about 13′ squared and was interrupted by doors on three sides. They wanted to improve connections between the living spaces and maintain access to their deck. So Levitch created a design that focuses on an open feeling in the Kitchen and its connection to the rest of the home.

Kitchen

  • Working within the existing footprint, we reconfigured the Kitchen so it opens to the Dining Room, which is now more open to the Living Room.
  • During construction, we created mockups for things the client wasn’t sure about, like the arched opening between the Kitchen and Dining Room. The owners took our suggestions to extend backsplash tile to the ceiling and add more LED lighting to the tray ceiling in the Dining Room.

Deck

  • The adjacent pergola and deck weren’t part of the original scope or budget but had been problematic in the connection between the Kitchen and outdoors. The owners accepted our proposal to rebuild the pergola after we’d started construction, which made the indoor/outdoor aspect of the project more cohesive.
