Midcentury (More) Modern Living

El Cerrito, CA

  • Year Built: 2016

Levitch kept traditional midcentury elements while creating a modern, open plan Kitchen, Dining, and Living spaces.

We refreshed living spaces in a 1940s home that had been covered in knotty pine. The Owners wanted an open Kitchen with an island.

    • Levitch remodeled the Kitchen, opening it to the Dining and Living rooms and replacing windows.

    • Slab (flat) cabinet and drawer fronts, cabinet and drawer pull, and clean lines remain true to the home’s style.

    • We upgraded the ridge beam to a proper size, replacing rafters as needed while keeping the sloped wood ceiling in character with this midcentury modern home.

    • The Living Room remodel included a new sliding door to the deck and a gas fireplace with new tile at the location of the old wood-burning fireplace.
