Family Home Transformation

El Cerrito, CA

  • Year Built: 2022

The Owners wanted to remodel this family home to meet their needs before moving in.

We completely remodeled it inside and out including

    • Transforming the front, reconfiguring access from the street level. We also lifted the Entry roof to create a more distinctive entrance and make space to display custom stained glass art in the transom over the door. The higher roof required a Planning permit to expand into the “daylight plane” area for El Cerrito

    • Vaulting ceilings in living areas, replacing and adding windows, skylights and solar tubes to improve natural light and increase the sense of volume in the same square footage

    • Remodeling the Kitchen and Bathrooms. The Kitchen expanded into a previous hall to create a service area that adds work space while being hidden from view. The main Kitchen area includes windows between upper and lower cabinets to shed light on the work area

    • Replacing an awkward split Bathroom with an en suite Primary Bathroom

    • Rebuilding the rear deck to take advantage of Bay views

    • Reworking the stairs to the lower level, adding a wet bar and a full Bathroom so it can be used as a comfortable guest suite
