Untangling the Past Berkeley, CA This well-used Kitchen had previously been remodeled. The Bathroom on the first floor was close by, and occupied a vital connection space to the exterior at the southern wall. By relocating the Bathroom and eliminating a duplicate Basement staircase, we were able to bring south light into the Kitchen and create a warm Nook area. The project also included a new Deck outside of the Nook, new sliding doors from the Dining Room to the Deck, and remodeling three Bathrooms. A key requirement was to allow part-time access through the Kitchen to a rental unit used by family, friends, or tenants – but also to maintain a good sound barrier. After our acoustical consultant made a few suggestions, our modifications resulted in a happy client.
