Rockridge Open Kitchen/Dining Oakland, CA Back to Projects OverviewGalleryProject DetailsRelated Projects Overview Separate Kitchen and Dining rooms become one open, airy space melding natural wood tones and neutral cabinet colors in Oakland’s Rockridge neighborhood. Gallery Completed Project Project Details Location: Oakland, CA The Owners wished to open up the flow of the rooms between the Kitchen and the Dining Room. The New Nook adds an intimate area for food to be eaten and the refreshed Dining Room now has access to the Backyard. Before, a peninsula and the fridge separated the Nook visually from the rest of the Kitchen. Now with a new Nook bench and table and an island instead of the previous wall between the Kitchen and Dining Room, the Kitchen is open to both areas. What had been a window at the Dining Room became doors opening to the existing deck and outdoor area. We changed access to the Laundry room, now opening to a different side of the Kitchen. Levitch fabricated and installed a custom sliding barn door that replaced swinging doors between the Dining Room and Foyer. We created a temporary Kitchen and Laundry area at the Living Room for the Owners to use during construction.
