Open Plan in Oakland Hills

Oakland, CA

Our client purchased this Mid-Century Modern home and wanted to remodel it before moving in. The project called for altering the Main Floor plan to create a more open living space.

  • Our solution was to remove a previous addition over the existing deck at the rear, relocate the staircase to the lower floor, and remove most of the remaining interior walls.
  • Now two large window areas push up above the western roofline to take advantage of the picturesque view of the San Francisco Bay and bring in light while adding interest to the space.
  • An opening wall between the window elements helps to define the Dining Area and provides access to the expanded deck.
  • The Kitchen features Berkeley Mills cabinetry.
